Canon dslr and FD lens compatibility?

hi! I'm thinking about acquire a new dslr canon body. My Dad owns a FD 35-70mm. I know it's a immensely old lens but I'm vieving my option...
My question is, If I be to purchase the body, could I use the lens with it? Would near be any controversies since the lens don't belong to a digital camera? Thanks in credit.

Answers:    Sorry, but the answer is "no". The FD lens was a great design, call a breechlock. You rotated a collar to lock the lens in place, and could rotate it more if the mount begin to show wear.

Unfortunately, Canon chose not to keep this system when they moved into the world of Auto Focus SLR's. Their bayonet mount AF lenses for their 35mm AF cameras will work very well on the new DSLR file. But your older lens isn't compatible.

I hope this is caring for you.
The short answer is no. Canon's FD lens line be made obsolete when Canon switched to autofocus lenses, and the change made the old lenses completely incompatible.

You'd stipulation a modern Canon autofocus lens to ensure compatibility.
no...
The FD lens mount is different to the EF mount used on Canon autofocus bodies, including the DSLRs. You can buy an adapter that allows you to use the lens. These normally hold an optical element to allow the FD lens to focus to infinity, which introduces potential aberration depending on the quality of the lens.

Clearly you will be restricted to manual focus, but you would necessitate to check what auto-exposure settings can still be used. I think it is solely aperture-priority and manual, but this is not my nouns of expertise.
