How do you usually handle your digital photos contained by your laptop?

I have a 5 megapixel cybershot digital camera.

I bring alot of pictures but i realize that each picture is worth roughly speaking 1.5 mb-3mb of memory, that means
usually when i nouns all the photos into my computer, it'll rob up a alot of space!!

What do you guys usually do after you've taken a memory stick full of pictures? how do you save them into your computer? do you "re-save" the unbroken memory stick load of pictures inside a photoshop software so they become more compact within size(eg. 200kb?), will that sacrifice the photo qualities and photo datas of my untested picture ??

i have adobe photoshop 7.0, but never used it,
*What photo softwares are flawless for managing these digital photos i just snapped on my camera?

Answers:    Do you hold a CD burner on your computer? Once you enjoy enough pictures to riddle a CD I would burn them to a Disc. This instrument you still have the pics but they aren't taking up space. Or you could install a second intricate drive and put all your pictures on it. If you want a biddable program for managing your pictures download a free program named Picasa, it from google. You can carry a copy here. http://picasa.google.com/
I burn mine to a CD, ususally by the year/month. If you don't amass your pictures to a cd, then you run the risk of losing everything ifyour computer crashes.
