Answers: any one of a quantity of dslr cameras would suffice... I'd suggest going to www.dpreview.com and comparing the different dslr's side by side, to see which appeals to you most. Then, go to a camera store (not best buy or circuit city or walmart) and play next to the different cameras to see which fits best.
For shooting sports indoors, you'll want a "fast" lens with an aperture of give or take a few 2.8 or in that nonspecific range. Canon make a great 70-200mm 2.8 lens which is perfect for indoor sports, it is a bit pricey though.... you'll also want to look for lenses beside "image stabilization" if you are planning on handholding the camera... if you are using a tripod, you won't call for the IS feature...

My personal choice was the Cannon EOS Rebel XTI.
It come with a EF-S 18-55 mm lens which works great for pictures around the house or surrounded by smaller areas. Then I purchased a EF 75-300mm lens which is perfect for sports and outdoor photography. The camera have all the funtions for professional use or you can set it to full auto and lately take pictures. Hold shutter button down in the middle and it auto focusses then push rest of the instrument down to snap the picture and you dont have to lurk to take the subsequent picture just preserve snapping.
Only a opinion from me thought the camera be priced very very well. hope you find what you are looking for and happy picture taking.
Any one of the DSLR cameras will do what you want. Just attain the lens that will enable you to get hold of good photos you want.
