Nikon 55-200MM VR lens Quesion?
Answers: My wife has this lens for her D50. We do NOT even own the 18-55 "kit" lens, but if you hold the Series II kit lens, I honestly doubt that the 55-200 VR is any better optically. I own read tests on the newer tackle lens and it sounds like Nikon really superior the quality of the lens. The 55-200 VR is indeed a nice lens, even though it is the "old" VR technology, especially due to it's $250 price.
It does not do a better post of macro (micro), but it will definitely blur the situation more, because you can use the longer end of the lens.
Check this out. This photograph was made beside a D200 and the 18-200 VR lens. It's not exactly macro, but the background is nearly as blurry as they come. You could duplicate this effect with the 55-200 lens. Read the comments for a description of how I did this.

Here's another one taken at 200 mm. It's not a macro lens, but it's knotty to imagine getting much better beside a real macro lens. (And I OWN one, too!)

Using VR will unquestionably help. I own the Nikon 18-200mm VR and love it. With the VR on, I'm able to thieve handheld photos at 1/4 second.
BUT, a VR lens won't make up for poor camera technique. Are you holding the camera resembling a book, with both hand on the camera body? You should have your right appendage gripping the body and the left paw supporting the lens from beneath.
You should be using a shutterspeed fast satisfactory to freeze the action and avoid camera movement blur. For example, next to your 18-55mm kit lens, you should other be shooting at 1/60 to 1/125. I'd suggest staying above 1/125 or higher.
Learn to PRESS the shutterbutton slowly and smoothly. Too tons people smash down on it, tallying movement to the camera.
Learn to stand so your feet are place one within front of the other. If your feet are planted side-by-side, later your camera and lens can too easily move vertically. Turning your stance change that and solidifies your camera's vertical tendancies.
I see you're trying to shoot indoors without flash. For that, you entail to have as much street lamp in the room as possible. You also will exterminate blur by moving the ISO up to 1250 or 1600.
Give these techniques a try first.
By the approach, the 55-200mm VR is an excellent bargain and a great lens.
Hope this help. Ask if you have any other question.
richard do yourself a favour and buy a tripod, that will do far more for the sharpness of your metaphors than VR will
