the psp displays games surrounded by progressive scan. a standard video cable cannot carry a progressive scan signal.
the one and only way to pass that signal is by setting three different line level. This is where the component video cable come into play.
so no, the standard av cable will not display games.
and sony quite clearly displays this on the box
