can... or will the ps3 run windows

Answers:    No, the architecture of the PS3 will not support a Windows installation. Windows will simply run with an i386 compatible processor, whereas the processor contained by the PS3 is of the PowerPC architecture similar to Apple Macs.

The way to do this is install Linux and consequently use Virtualbox or another virtual machine application to run Windows. Although this have been done back, I can't think of any foundation why you would want to do this, as the PS3 has lone 256MB RAM, and to run a virtual machine requests 512MB at the absolute minimum. It will run horrendously slow.

The best article to do is install Linux, as it is compatible with the PS3. Fedora and Kubuntu are accurate distros.
The PS3 could technically run windows through wine on Linux, but it would be amazingly slow and wouldn't work correctly.
