Adding backwards compatibility to a 40 see ps3?
do sony contribute this in anyway?
is in attendance anyway to do it without sony back?
Answers: The EU 60gb model is actually full software emulation for ps1 games but for ps2 games it requires the graphics synthesizer at least possible which the 60gb model has, the 40gb model have this removed to cut down production costs.
Without the hardware emulation of ps2 games is considerably harder and not worth pursuing especially in a low cost model.
If you really want to play your ripened games I would say achieve a ps2, or if you have one hold on to it.
It seems similar to the 40 gig won't support the software emulation. It's probably down to firmware on the current PS3's not having the emulator profiles for the PS2 and PSX, so its pretty unlikely that you'll ever know how to run those games on a 40gig PS3.
