Xbox 360 ip address problems?

i have a key problem trying to get xbox live. i hold a ethernet cable hooked up to a smc router. when i test the xbox nouns it sais failed when i find to the ip adress. someone please help me and let somebody know me what to do. i really want xbox live!


Answers:    Make sure your router has DHCP switched on so it can issue IP adresses to connected devices resembling your Xbox 360.

If it does not, then it wil not be capable of act as a router for multiple devices and you may be connecting to the internet from your PC directly to the modem where on earth you PC logs on with a username and password (instead of the router doing this job).
I have sorta the same problem initially. I would try to seize in to your router settings (possibly typing 192.168.1.1 into your browser window) and any opening the ports the XBox assistance tells you to, or purely by disabling the firewall all together. If that doesn't work, nickname 1-8OO-4MYXBOX, but leave yourself some time cuz their customer service is poor and slow.
