Folding home?
Answers: Folding@home is a large enormity operation to try and find cures for things like cancer.
It's adjectives to do with protein folding.
Protein can style itself to perform a unquestionable task, for example differrent types of protein are needed for your skin than for muscle. To change it does a thing call "folding" this happens incredibly smartly and so it can't be recorded. So instead it is simulated. People that run folding are designated a work component. This work unit take around 8 hours to complete (on a PS3) and once that has be finsihed it is sent to the Folding Database. This work unit would be a small division of a big simulation and so many work unit are allocated to it.
People can then watch the protein in super slow mo (effectively) and see what happen to it when it folds. Finding stuff like this out money scientists can find out why proteins can sometimes misfold and end up as cancer.
In a nutshell,
Running folding could lead to finding a cure to cancer.
