Xbox Live troubles...?

Well I bought a subscription to Xbox Live about partially a year ago. It's for the regular Xbox, not 360, I know, people right to be heard it's really hard to do, but still. I bought a year subscription and come home. I hold a Verizon DSL 100MBps connection and every time I try to hook it up to the Xbox, it simply says something roughly the DNS server. I hooked it up different, and no matter what I do, it still does it. Someone aid me please.

Answers:    If you are not connecting to a router then you're credible to need the username/password for the PPoE settings on your Xbox to meeting that of your PC. So you can login to broadband and get your IP and DNS settings.
