The 60GB PS3 is still avaliable also and is mortal sold for $499.99 also. I don't know why it's the same price as the 80GB PS3 though.
The price on the 60GB PS3 may drop a few bucks within a few weeks because the 60GB PS3's are not being produced anymore, and really the 60GB PS3 is the best journal because it has the best backwards compatibility. The 40GB PS3 wont be towards the back compatible with PS1and PS2 games, but it will enjoy WiFi.
The 80GB PS3 has to the rear compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games, but it a moment ago can't play as many of them.

With just a $50 dollar difference the 80gb is an obvious choice , it also comes near Motor Storm. The 80gb is not guaranteed to play all PS1-PS2 games but to be exact what the PS2 is for.
The drawback of the 20gb is that has no wireless internet which is one of my penchant features of the PS3
