How do I update Xbox?

I bought a game and it said that it was an original xbox game and my xbox 360 needed to be updated. I dont have xBox live but I have the internet, can I download an update on my computer and install it on my xbox

Put the ethernet (long, grey cable) cable into your 360 and the other into your modem/router.

Then turn on your Xbox, insert the game and it will update.

What i would do if i were you is look in all your game cases to see if any of them have a 2 day trail for the xbox live.

I would then set it up for xbox live and download it between the 2 days to save you having to buy a gold membership if you dont want it!
you can update ur xbox by directly connecting it to the internet or u can call customer support to send a disk with the latest updates directly to ur residence within ten working days
