Well, you can plug within an SD card up to 2GB, but it's not quite equal, since SD cards are purely for storage. Games can't read straight from them, and you can't run VC games straight off of them any.
Not currently, you can, however, backup saves on an SD card.
not that i know of but you can store things on an sd card.
