Why can't my PS3 detect the ethernet cable plugged into the fund of it?

I attempted with no luck to connect my PS3 wirelessly to a 2wire modem. It could not detect the signal. After adjectives this, I had already input several settings into the computer including to use a wireless nouns, and IP settings for the wireless network. We also used a medium storage device to install the newest firmware. Then, we moved the modem into one and the same room with the PS3, something like two feet from it and later plugged it into the modem via ethernet cable. Now, it ONLY allows us to use the wireless connection, but it still cannot connect to it. It does not grant any reason as to why it cannot connect to the wireless modem beyond, "Obtain IP Address: Failed." and "The nouns to the access point timed out." It does not permit us to tuning the setting to "wired" connection, nor does it detect the ethernet cable plugged into the system, although the wishy-washy on the port is illuminated when the cable is inserted. What on globe shall remedy this situation?

Answers:    Hmmm, I don't know if this will work, but I read somewhere if you hold the power button for about 5 second after you turn the system on, it's supposed to recognize bright settings. Someone had to do this when they switched to the s video component cable, so possibly it will work if you switch internet connection. if that doesn't work, try resetting your PS3 to is unproved defaults, and after maybe you can set up your internet nouns again from scratch.
System Restore underneath the Settings tab I believe. Then just plug the item in. Did you try loading the modem firmware into the PS3? If you did, next that would probably ruin your modem AND your PS3 so DO NOT attempt it if you havent already. It sounds like some settings get fubar'ed so Restore everything from the settings menu. If the ps3 does not recognize the wired nouns after it is restored then step to your computer with the modem plugged into that and approachable up a "Command Prompt" from the Accesories menu and type in "ipconfig" lacking the quotes, and that will tell you what your ip address is. in a minute plug the modem back into the ps3 and manually enter that ip address contained by the settings menu of the ps3.
Try to plug it via a router. Although I use a wired router (VPN support), I have no problem whatsoever. Or try a wireless router next to VPN support.
