I just bought mario party 8 for the wii. I can't get the 2nd controler to load up. what is wrong?

you need to press the home button then choose wii remote settings or something on the bottom of the screen then you choose disconnect then you press the buttons 1 and 2 together on each wiimote...the first 1 to press it becomes player 1...

If it's a new controller, you have to sync it with your system, basically, tell the controller to send it's signal to your Wii. It tells you how in the operations manual
Press the home button then on the bottom click wii remote settings. Next, click disconnect. Then connect a controller by pressing 1 and 2 same time/simutlaneously. Connect one controller at a time because if you do it at the same time, the person who was supposed to be 2nd might be first.
