Why did they get the Wii "region locked?"?
Answers: There are several legitamate business reason for region locking a device:
It allows items to be launched at different times within different places, without allowing citizens to obtain the item ahead of time.
Allows price differentiation between market, thus increasing the potential revenue from worldwide sales and/or making products affordable contained by markets not tolerating the prices of other regions.
Distribution contracts can be awarded to different companies for different regions.
There are also negative, but those are some of the reasons.
Well there's a little reasons :
1.) Language Differences, e.g. A japanese Wii can not a play American Wii Games.
2.) Illegal Sales
3.)Game errors next to Language differences.
There are many more reason.
This has be a standard practice for most consoles for generations. This prevents the public sale of games to unintended market. It isn't something I agree next to but it can be understood for some situations. Mainly because different market have different grade procedures of the game.
The first example that comes up surrounded by my mind is Xenosaga ps2. This game wasn't allowed to come to the U.S. as it be originally presented in Japan and have to be censored (the scene with albedo and him toying beside the kirshwashers) in command for it to be released in the US. As much as I to some extent have the content be cut, I'd fairly not want to know what would happen to the video winter sport industry would be like surrounded by america if we had trouble-free access to games that would be banned contained by this country....
