Best joystick, gamepad, for PC?
please tell me that it is a multipurpose or hobby dependent?

Answers: I use a Saitek P2900 Wireless. It's get decent wireless compass, the batteries end for a pretty good while and I close to the button configuration for playing N64 emulators. The included software also allows you to map gamepad buttons and sticks to keyboard/mouse functions so you can use it to play games that don't have controller support. I also use mine as a mouse to start movies and music I've downloaded so I don't own to actually sit at my desk to keep watch on.
