Answers: If you replaced the DVD drive section (which houses the laser) then you may be within trouble as all the Xbox 360 DVD unit have firmware that locks it into the console it sits within. If you replace it, you will need to copy the firmware onto your unusual DVD drive otherwise it will not recognise any of the copy protection on the games discs (it's part of Microsoft's anti-piracy protection).
Otherwise, it may be that your DVD drive component will need repairing.
The laser is usually too large on most Xboxes. Since it uses a normal DVD player, except adjectives the games and DVDs are in HD, it's SUPPOSED to gain some rubber thing around the laser, so the discs WON'T bring back scratched. At least, they're adjectives SUPPOSED to, but the Xbox 360's DVD drive DOESN'T have one. Stupid, MC, for no protective discs.
