Crack it open and gross a last attepmt to verbs the laser (can;t changethe drive or else the system won't work).
Buy a fresh core pack at Costco and keep my antediluvian faceplate on the wall as a grim reminder.
Anyone got any warning? If you got other option for me to try please post, don't give me answers I already know.
PS It's sour warrenty (except for rings)

One thing to check is the center spindle, especially if the drive be made by Hitachi/LG. Sometimes, the center metal ring inside the spindle hub can pop out and become magnetically attached to the disc clamping cap.
When this happen, there is nought effectively holding the disc on the spindle, which will allow slippage of the disc when the drive tries to spin it up.
The fix is to get the ring bad of the clamp cap and pop it put a bet on into the spindle hub, using VERY small amounts of super glue to stick it into place and allowing a minimum of 15 minutes for the glue to become inflexible (a couple of hours or so for the glue to cure). The bottom of the ring will enjoy what looks like three black dots; that side should enjoy three very small dots of gum and be facing towards the inside of the spindle hub cavity when placing it back surrounded by.
Again, DO NOT use too much super glue as it will cart longer to harden, may allow a mess of cement on the drive, and, during hardening, the fumes could achieve into and contaminate the optics of the laser pickup.
so you dont have the rings? shoot the one and only thing i could muse of is going and getting a new core pack at costco and newly use your harddrvie on that...this is the only times you want the rings haha
