Answers: Depends on your OS.
for linux, support for the sixaxis is built-in to kernel 2.6.18 and above. I think... I know 2.6.20 particularly has it, that's the kernel I currently use.

I don't know almost mac, but if there is one, you'll find it near google.
Keep in mind that you will return with support for everything but the motion-sensing. In essence, that's 28 axes, including pressure-sensitive buttons.
I have made my sixaxis do some amazing things, controlling adjectives sorts of stuff on my games.
