I own connected PS3 using component lead but enjoy no nouns. lend a hand?
Answers: component cables only give you a picture sign. on the end of your cable you have to choices, any optical ( if your tv / surround sound ) have this INPUT. Or you could use the red / white ( phono ).

Double check your connections
Go into the Sound Settings (under the Setting tab)
Click on Audio Output Settings
Change to the Cable you are using
This should fix your problem.
