I have to reset my PS2 close to 50 times to play any game strange or used! It just say "Disc Read Error." What can I do, I cant afford a new Playstation. It is the hoary, thick description. It is black, if that helps.
Answers: That's probably a lens problem. It wear off next to time. Try cleaning it (professional way to verbs - especial spray from electronics store, home way - alcohol and Q-tips, the 2nd route can damage the lens). If cleaning won't give a hand - the lens needs to be replaced. PS2 parts aren't expensive presently.
