Does the HDMI DVD player play Blu-ray discs or HD DVDs?

We want to rent HD DVDs on Netflix, but we're not sure if the HDMI can play them.

Answers:    HDMI is simply a form of cable that can connect your home theater equipment to your TV. If you want to watch HD-DVD or Blu-Ray you necessitate to make sure you hold a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player. The important entity to remember is that there are progressive scan DVD players out near now that use HDMI, but those are not necessarily HD-DVD or Blu-Ray compatible.
Your HDMI DVD player sounds more close to an Upconvert HDMI DVD Player, not an HD-DVD Player and not a Blu-Ray player.

If you did not specifically purcase an HD-DVD player, you will not be able to play your HD-DVDs on hi-def.

HOWEVER! HD-DVDs come near Standard DVDs on the other side of the disc. So you can still play the Standard DVD movie from that disc, so all is not lost! Enjoy!

ps Blu-Ray/HD-DVD players cannot play respectively others dvds.
