Can sheetrock support a speaker?

I need to prop up one speaker. It is give or take a few 8lb. The sheetrock doesn't have a wooden roof joist behind it and I don't call for a fancy shelf setup. I just want the speaker to be raise.

What solutions do I have? The speaker requests to be at a curve, aimed at me (lower than it).
