Is in that that much of a difference between DDS 5.1 (AC3) and DTS 5.1?
My stereo takes any formats via optical. Apparrently DDS badwidth is 640kb where as DTS is 1.5mb.
I own read that DDS is a more lossy codec than DDS because it uses more compression.
I have listen to WMA's at 128mbs and they sound matching as a 192mbs PM3. WMA is a higher compression rate.
Should I be concerned just about the DDS versus DTS or is it not much of a difference if any?
I have an onkyo SR304 beneficiary in a 5.1 setup.
Answers: The player downconverts the Dolby TrueHD to Dolby Digital because an optical nouns does not have the bandwidth basic to carry Dolby TrueHD or DTS MasterAudio. There is a significant difference between TrueHD and DDS because the DDS is much more compressed and in attendance is a notable loss within sound. If you want to use Dolby TrueHD or DTS MasterAudio contained by ANY player, you'll need to output the singal via any an HDMI 1.3 connection, or through analog outputs for respectively channel of audio, using the players internal decoder.
You'll want to find a player (more expensive) that have the "5.1 Analog Output"...All that fancy decoding is done INSIDE the player...Click this intermingle for a diagram: http://www.avtruths.com/uncompressed.htm...
As for who's got better nouns, Dolby or DTS, they're still waitin' to figure that one out...Find a DVD that have BOTH soundtracks and switch back and forth a few times...Trust your ears.
I enjoy never really noticed a difference beside the 2 formats. You might be able to make out a difference with a direct AB comparison but specifically almost impossible unless you have 2 dvd players playing one and the same movie on 2 identical nouns systems (or you may be able to switch inputs on your beneficiary but it has to tuning quickly any long bottleneck between unput selection can surrounded by effect "reset" your ears) One gets feed Dolby Digital the other gets the DTS.
I instinctively have not hear a difference. I have played copious of my dual format disks in both formats and enjoy not been competent to determine if one is better. Another thing to preserve in mind is the source textile. you can record something at 396mbs from a worn out dictation and a cassette tape will nouns better. samplng rates and bandwitdh can be really misleading be carefull. Just have a suitable listen.
