Can I convert speaker rope to a subwoofer cable?

About a year ago I purchased a home theater package that included a addressee and 5.1 speakers. In that package the subwoofer be connected by regular speaker wire. Now I bought a hot receiver but it doesn't enjoy connections that allow me to connect my sub to the receiver using speaker line, it only have a single cable input for the sub. Can I convert speaker cable to fit this connection? Or will I enjoy to buy an all untried sub?

Answers:    your best bet is to replace the sub and speaker that came beside the in the box set up.
brand new sub i would worry roughly starting a fire.. the wire might not be the correct calculate
unfortunately your sub that come with your 5.1 system is what is prearranged as a "passive sub" that way it is amplified by the receiver. There are "moving subs" that are self-amplified. Your new heir only have a connection for an helpful sub, meaning that it will not amplify your sub making it more or smaller number useless, it simply sends the bass portion of the surround sound to what is supposed to be an self-amplifying subwoofer. The well-mannered news is that live subs have the expertise to be much, much more powerful than a passive depending on the size and amplification that you buy, but sorry, you cannot use that sub next to your current receiver.
Yes you inevitability an amplifier for the sub you mentioned. But you can get amps used surrounded by several electronics ads. They aren't that expensive and this will allow you to use your present sub beside your present surround amp. Saves replacing either. I did it.
Sure you can. If your current subwoofer have L/R (Left&Right) speaker input and output... you can connect the L/R output from your new addressee to the input of the Sub and connect your front L/R speakers into the output of the Sub.

Esentially doing a crossover. Hopefully your sub has a knob to set frequency factor (120Hz would be fine).
