Answers: I would think that if it's sold in Tesco's it will simply play european region (is that 4?) DVDs.
Tesco don't make DVD players .... of late stick their labelby!
Check out the brand and model number and visit Google for sites providing "hacks" to product the player multi-region (you might have to discharge around lb3 if you don't want the hassle of searching for free databases).
The hack involve modifying the firmware code, usually by a sequence like "clear DVD drawer - punch in XYZ code - close drawer - press W" .... really simple.
Some players don't own this capability so check the network before you buy.
The other solution (the one I use) is to play multiregion discs on a medium linked-in PC running a program called "Any DVD" which does as it say .... enables you to skip through tiresome copyright messages too ....

is it a technika one? I reflect on thats their own brand...
some players are generic and not country specififc..
as for what it plays do a google search for the model number + "region unlock".. or "remote hack" etc.. conceivably u'll find help hopefully. as for what disks it plays, you could try a variety of sorts and see what the result is.
I really don't understand the piece with region codes. I tight-fisted I found it a pointless excercise for companies to do that. I used to buy films in america when I go over, they were abundantly cheaper back within the old days.
