Hooking Up a Passive subwoofer?

OK i have a 5.0 Home theater set up contained by my liveing room my friend gave me a 800 watt pliable sub. The sub uses the same nouns for speakers as the receiver but i cant run hook ups to the sub and the speakers because the sub with the sole purpose allows hookups for the sub it doesnt transmit out to the speakers like my frail sub. Now i have a 600 watt stereo heir ....... so i was wondering if its possible to use the 600 watt addressee to power the sub but for the audio signal to be transmitted from my home theater reciever to the 600 watt receiver
