Home Theater reciever sound out?

My Sony STR-K840P reciever flashes "PROTECT"and must have fried the amp inside.Repair shop wishes $200 to fix it,should I just buy another one?The repair tech mentioned that Sony audio feature has decline in the recent past couple years. What's a good choice for a A/V reciever for $200?

Answers:    $200 is not profoundly to work with. And Sony have gone over to the dark side, moving product is more celebrated than quality, audio, video, or part life.

Look at Denon, Yamaha, or Onkyo first. OR E-bay for a correct used one.
for $200 (lb150) i would have it fixed-i hold never rated sony surrounded by the av market but for that sort of dosh you won't get better.
I don't imagine you fried the amp, if you did fry it, it would be smoking, and the words PROTECT wouldn't even be flashing on there. I deduce I have like receiver as you as very well.

I've had this appear to me all you would do is freshly turn the receiver past its sell-by date and turn it back on. It usually happen when the wires aren't hooked up or if you're using your A/C plug on the receiver, also sometimes if you're using terrifically powerful speakers and you have a loud movie playing.
