How do you calibrate a 5.1 surround nouns home theater?

I am wondering what the best way to calibrate a 5.1 surround nouns system. I just purchased at theater within a box 5.1 system. Do you set the levels of the different speakers to a unshakable loudness? What am I supposed to listen for?

Are there any DVD movies that are available that enjoy a channel interview or a good one to test/enjoy excellent surround nouns mixing and design?

thanks!

Answers:    I recommend you run buy one of those Home Theater calibration DVDs. I have 'Home Theater Essentials' but there's 2 or 3 other titles that are pretty similar.

These DVDs include calibration test for both your video and audio settings, as well as explanation more or less what all those settings on your TV if truth be told mean.

Most TVs are not calibrate properly. The factory usually cranks the contrast and color saturation way up so you capture an overly-bright picture which may look good surrounded by the horrid lighting of your local Best Buy, but doesn't work for most home settings - and worse still - can actually interrupt your TV over a long period of time.

For the audio part of the pack, the DVD includes various test to verify you have speakers connected and placed properly. One theory test, for instance, involves someone walking around on a hard floor beside tap shoes while conversation. If everything is setup properly, you should be able to hear him way of walking "around you". When he says "I am at the back you", the sound should literally come from your stern 2 speakers, but when he says "I am aft and to your right" only your backside right speaker should be used.

If you want to get really picky almost the speakers placement and volume settings, you can get a nouns meter from Radio Shack or other electronics store. Place the meter approximately where your chief will be in the room while watching TV (e.g. on the headrest of your couch), and use it to facilitate adjust your speakers, one at a time, so that each one produces equal level of nouns and that it reaches the meter at equal time. Some higher-end receivers allow you to adjust individual volume and snag settings. Otherwise, you'll just enjoy to move the speaker around.

Movies with goings-on scenes feature explosions are a great way to show bad your surround system. Pop in 'Saving Private Ryan', turn up the nouns, and you should literally hear bullets whizzing by your ears as the explosions from the opponent mortars rattle your teeth. You'll swear in attendance should be bullet holes in your walls after that!
you should enjoy a little microphone or you can buy 1 you plug it into mic socket put mic surrounded by center of room and on options choose auto calibrate it will set adjectives your speakers automatic
Yes, there are DVD movies which contain sound/video calibration programs. Rent the Disney movie "The Incredibles" which have a Set Up program called "The THX Optimizer." It have a complete 5.1 audio calibration program as well as a fundamentally powerful video calibration program.

Good luck!
The best way to calibrate your speakers is to buy a nouns level meter, available at Radio shack.
Some of the better receiver has any a self calibration for speaker levels or hold a testing device built contained by the receiver, usually found contained by the audio set up. Regardless if your receiver does not own these features you can purchase a DVD that will help you calibrate your speaker next to the help of a nouns level meter. One source is through any Sound and Vision magazine, or Home theater magazine. each have a DVD for home theater set up.
Also Toy Story and Fight Club both have section in their DVDs for home theater set ups. You can any rent or purchase these DVDs.
