Answers: OK ... Yes. Best Buy.
Now ... if you want a eloquent answer read on.
HDMI (See link for details) is a standard for interconnecting medium devices like a DVD player and an HDTV. The standard includes both the plugs and jacks as ably as the cable itself.
An HDMI cable carries both video and audio.
DVI and HDMI are exchangeable regarding video but DVI does not pass audio, so if you use an adapter you will lose the audio.
The differences in HDMI version relate primarily to bandwidth ... and therefore cabability re glorious definition resolution and audio format.
Currently HDMI cables must be certified by HDMI to ensure they come together the applicable spec ... but this isn't always significant. As noted in the article (2nd link) from the Blue Jean Cables website you really involve to see a copy of the certification to be sure it applies at down cable being purchased (some manufacture get shorter cable certified and consequently say adjectives lengths they trade are certified!).
There are differences beween cables, but you don't inevitability to spend a fortune to get a polite cable. See the 3rd link re Monster (good, but massively expensive) vs Monoprice (a moderate to good budget priced cable).
So ... adjectives HDMI will work (at least at lower resolution and short distance) beside any HDTV with an HDMI input. HDMI 1.3 certified cable will work with any HDTV (and your PS3).
You will collect a lot of money buying on-line, but can buy from Best Buy or Circuit City, etc. if you don't attention to detail about price.
HDMI 1.3a compatible cable is an HDMI 1.3 cable, they will not differentiate nonetheless. HDMI 1.3 cable is compatible with adjectives previous forms of HDMI, so if your HDTV has an HDMI port, and you buy the most modern cable (HDMI 1.3) you will be set.
