Which would be better on a 1080p hdtv, HD-DVD or an upconverter?
Answers: I own a 1080p Sony TV, xbox 360 with composite 1080i, PS3 near HDMI 1080p, and had a 1080p upconverter. I took the upconverter fund because their was no difference between the 1080i xbox 360 or the HDMI 1080p upconverter. I imagine the upconverter is a waste sour money, and if you every plan on having a HD player, achieve it for a couple hundred bucks over the upconveter hands down. If you play video games, freshly get the 360 or PS3 and it will upconvert it for you, honestly I believe adjectives the upconverter does is allow the signal to go into the TV any composite 1080i or 1080p HDMI input, and if any resolution of the picture is increased, I could not tell. I love my 360, i get the PS3 to play blu-rays because it was 1/2 price of the blu-ray player, and I enjoy been disappointed near some of the blu-rays, they look no different than the DVD on some and others will blow me away.
Ok since your HDTV it is a 1080P resolution, I think you should catch the Toshiba HD-XA2 or Toshiba A35 player. Both of those machines are "Full 1080P" & it also has more futures later the Toshiba A3 player. If you are thinking having a home theater & use speakers, the the Toshiba A35 or Toshiba HD-XA3.
No business what happen the format time of war, you have a unic HD player. :)
-I own Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on player.
depends on what you want.
Quality : walk full HD with a clean player and new DVDs
Cheap : bring an upconverter.
Either way, you probably won't be oohing and aahhing just about it for long. Our eyes and brain compensate - too much detail and we start ignoring it. Not plenty, and our brain makes up for it anyway.
