Which is better an stirring or unassuming subwoofer on a DVD Home Cinema System ?

Answers:    Active is probably the best way to step. There are a lot more choices (manufacturers) to choose from out nearby. You can get obedient units but next you'd have to attain a hellofa ( dedicated ) amp to run it. If you did run passive, PARTSEXPRESS.COM have a really nice subwoofer amp by Dayton Audio that has adjectives the bells and whistles you could possibly want.- HSU Research.com have some incredible powered subs. Remember, get the biggest most powerful component you can afford- it will save you money contained by the long run as we home theater afficionados are always upgrading and on an upward curve our systems for that more "oomph" and "slam". Good luck and happy listen!
depends on the money you spend and the quality of your amp, couldnt confer a good answer short knowing your budget and surround amp make/model/power
Hi Jack. It all depends what you want from a Subwoofer. If you want the low frequency effects from movies at natural volume levels after a powered Subwoofer would probably be the best. If you are satisfied next to the low notes not anyone excessively loud then a obedient Sub. would be satisfactory specially if you listen to music as well. The pliable Sub. is better for music. Most rooms are too small for Subwoofers anyway and you don't hear them anything like you do at the Cinema. If you hold a pair of elevated quality ,full selection Speakers that go down to read aloud 40 HZ,that is low satisfactory. (that is all you would hear contained by an average room with a separate Sub.). You will still procure good bass "wallop' and "slam' if you are using a lofty quality amplifier.
Active adjectives the way!

An moving sub has much greater depth, slam and controllabilty than a cowed one. Passive subs simply 'parasitise' off the principal speakers and as a result, they sound fluffy and indistinct.

None of the clad, well certain sub manufacturers (REL, Tannoy, Paradigm, Kef, etc.) breed passive subs - they are adjectives active.
Normally that depends on the application, but since you mentioned a HTIB within your other questions I would read out to look at only stirring setups.

But you will see passive subs within higher running out applications.
