Plasma eyeshade or over chief projector?
Answers: To resolve your confusion, check out the December 2006 Consumer Report in which the DLP front projectors are rate superior to plasma flatscreens and provide the best value.
Here's an overhead/coffee table DLP projector which is currently a chief best buy.
Even though the Infocus SP4805 is currently back ordered for $325, it's the best do business around from infocus.com > Store > See All Home Theatre Projectors > Green Icon at right for SP4805. It's a DLP front projector with 4X speed color controls with no adjectives viewable rainbow effect.
Here's an actual movie, "A Good Woman" projected onto a 92" diagonal screen near the SP4805:

Good luck!
It boils down to a question of size, cost, and environment.
Size: The overhead projetor have to potentiality to be bigger for less money while still giving HD power.
Cost: The plasma for the size that a projector could put out would be crazy expensve.
This is the biggie:
Environment: The plasma will be much better in smaller rooms or rooms near windows that would be sturdy to get a dark environment. The projector requires mounting and being far satisfactory away from the wall.... also if the room is bright you may have signifigant issues near a projector.
You may have answered your own press. A plasma is great for black level... as be most Projectors can only engineer a Dark gray for black. But then again you can immediately buy some really great projectors for a song... and some of these are capable of 1080P. Look at the Mitsubishi HC5000U. It's an LCD 1080P beside a great contras ratio that sell for underneath $3500.00
You'll find many projectors. But you still enjoy to have a peak. And thats a whole bright bag of worms to unambiguous.
