Is it even worth getting a elevated definition dvd player at this point? There are with the sole purpose 320 titles?
I was trying to integer out how to go roughly speaking incorporating one into my theater.. whether through htpc or stand alone.
I was reading and after realized that in attendance are only nearly 320 titles on each standard..
Am I better bad just getting a devout upconverting dvd until there are more titles available...
I use netflix for dvds and they do proposal movies in hd or bd.
conceivably about 2 years.. They should cost alot smaller number by then too.
Answers: Actually in attendance are a few dual-format DVD players available now. The magazine who have reviewed them utter they DO play the movies, but the extra features available on stand-alone players are missing.
If you had a smaller HDTV, a up-converting DVD player might work for you. But these things are similar to magnifying a tabloid, then trying to 'fill in' the fuzzy parts so it looks somewhat better. They are still base on the old TV standard of 480 lines.
Since you enjoy a front-projector - you are more likely to see artifacts/problems. You should procure a true HD player.
The prices are down to about $300 for these players and Christmas is coming so the prices will drop even more.
Go to DVD empire and dance to the "HD" , "BluRay" tab at the top. They will show you the counts on each format. Find your favorite titles and pick a format base on the titles you want.
If it was me - I'd look at one of the less-expensive PS3 spectator sport systems. The magazines adjectives say this is the best BluRay DVD player available (It should be next to all those cell-processors).
If you want HD-DVD - shop the sale and big-box stores.
It's not worth getting either a blu-ray or hd-dvd player at this time.
The format time of war is still going on, and no player on the market will pedal both formats. Yes, for some reason, the companies focus consumers will be happy lone watching HALF of their movie library in HD. I don't take the logic there.
Get a flawless upconverting DVD player, and just dally for this whole format time of war to go away, which probably won't come to pass for at least a year or two.
