Why is the TV blind blue beside DVD player or Samsung DTB-h260F using component wires but fine beside s-video?

for some strange reason both my dvd player and hdtv tuner box both show wierd colors. heir mostly blue with red and my dvd player adjectives red but if I hook up either one near composite or s-video then the picture is fine.
I've tried different component wires adjectives with matching result AND my xbox using component displays all the colors correctly. Anybody know why?

TV is Toshiba 27" flat eyeshade analog w/ colorstream component output

Answers:    Make sure that if your TV does not support progressive input, nether the DVD player or the set-top are set to output progressive.

Did you try to connect the Greens only (Y)? You should see black and white lone. If you can't see b/w picture with green one and only, there is no correct sync.
Your DVD player may not know how to output both s-video and component at the same time. You may hold to go to a setup menu to select component output. If the peak is a solid blue, that means the TV is getting no signal.
