Laptop to flat peak?

I got an s-video nouns from laptop to flat screen. i even get the audio lead.

my cross-examine is why and how can i get my laptops peak saver on the tv but nil else. I thought that my laptops screen would purely be transfered onto the tv ?? Any ideas where on earth i went wrong...... please
