I am have trouble setting up my cable nouns......?

Your cable modem is a separate operation. When they installed it, they should have split the signal (with a special splitter) that sent modem information to the mode, and vanished TV signal available for your cable TV box.
Follow setup according to the DVD recoder's instructions - don't worry around the modem part..
In the finish, your hookup should look something like this:
cable coming into the house - splitter - cable modem stale one split, cable box off the other - DVD recoder connected to the cable box, both the cable box and DVD recorder connected to the TV next to separate interconnects.
The manufacturers instructions are flawless - just follow them and don't verbs about the modem for very soon.
Its hard to explain, I hope this have helped you more than confused you.

(Wall plug goes to cable box...cable box go to T.V. or DVD player (if that's what you use to change channels) DVD go to T.V...get a flashlight to read the rear of the stuff on all the stuff...) Or you may own to "switch connections" whenever you want to do one or the other...a pain, I know...but that's what happen when you buy the cheap T.V. or DVD machine...they store money by not putting dual connections in the hindmost of the cheap ones...
Only the connections are "labeled..."
Logically, you would want the cable from the T.V. to go into the "output" nouns on the cabel box...because cable "goes" to T.V. to make T.V. work..however...
If your DVD is digital and have input and output connections in the rear, and you're planning on it being the "interior control box," you want everything "outputting from that..." except where you plug it into the power strip or wall...
But I really recommend merely getting some dude you know to do it for you...
