When bi-wiring speakers, can you just bridge the wires connecting to the amp's terminal, it seems similar to it would cut down on the clutter.

See the diagrams at the coupled article on how to bi-wire. Also know that you must have "bi-wireable" speakers for it to work, and that in that are theoretical arguments for and against bi-wiring.
If your speakers group the requirements and you do it properly, go ahead and experiment.
