I have a vintage (1970's) yamaha CR-1000 amplifier. The other light of day, I left it on (wasn't playing music or anything through it), and it basically started making a really loud humming sound.. I rushed to the amp and turned the volume adjectives of the way down, but it still make a really loud humming sound. Any idea's on what it could be?? I'm assuming the power supply is fine, raison d`¨ētre the amp still powers on fine and obviously have the power to belt out such a loud hum. What else could it be??
Answers: If it is a valve amp you enjoy a broken capacitor in the power supply. If it is a solid state amp it can be the final stage power transistors or IC that are broken, but even within this case can be a unpromising capacitor in the power supply.
I found out your amp:

The capacitors are contained by front of the power transformer!!And it is a solid state amp, obviously!!
