Answers:    Just Peachy must work for sony.
Why do people cling to products next to a catchy name???
HDDVD AND BLURAY PROVIDE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME THING!! HIGH DEFINITION VIDEO AND AUDIO PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
NEITHER is better than the other surrounded by terms of part. Wait till the so called time of war is over and buy what were stuck next to.
Check out the latest reports from CES, Warner and immediately Paramount have moved over to Blu-Ray, starting contained by a few months:

As far as picture quality go, both are about equal, but Blu gleam is getting almost all of the studio support.

Sucks for me, I enjoy a HD-DVD player!
the picture quality of the two formats is exactly alike. both support a max resolution of 1080p, there is rather litterally no visual difference.

if you are looking to buy a strange HD content player, definitely progress with blu-ray. beside the recent announcement of Warner bros.. studios moving over to blu-ray. the "format war" is essentially over as blu-ray now have 75% of hollywood studio support. furthermore it is rumored that the remaining HD-DVD supporters, paramount and universal, will be switching to blu-ray inwardly the next couple of months
Neither have better picture quality than the other but that no longer matter.

As of Fridays announcement that Warner would make singular BD movies after May '08, the winner of the period of war has be declared. Blu-Ray. I thought it might take a year for it to come up but now I suppose it will be VERY soon that HD DVD closes up shop.

HD DVD was hit rugged and is scrambling to rest. They were surprised by Warners move to put a bet on BD and even cancelled the HD DVD event at this years CES.

Warner chose to do this because Blu-Rays have outsold HD DVDs 2-1. In Europe it be 3-1 in favor or BD and surrounded by Japan it was 10-1 surrounded by favor of BD. Warner only desires to sell more movies.

Many citizens beleive that this spells the end of HD DVD and a win for BD, me among them

Furthermore the NY Times reported this afternoon that both Paramount and Universal (who be the only HD DVD exclusive studios left) are no longer HD DVD exclusive.

I know that HD DVD will collide back. Expect great deal and free offers from HD DVD. But realistically the period of war is over. (1/13 Toshiba just lowered prices to$150-$399 on the players)

Ultimately the merely way for consumers to win is for one of them to win so that adjectives of the studios will make HD movies surrounded by a format accessable to everyone. I also expect that now that Blu-Ray have won you will see second and third tier manufacturers to cause players driving the price to $100 by 2009-1010. Funai just announce one for $299.
They hold to make this appear or the window is going to close and internet HD movies are going to lift over before BD have a chance to flourish. LG and Netflick own already announced an internet movie device and VUDU's machine is already available.
Buy very soon or buy later but buy Blu-Ray.

Incedentally Warner took no money to select Blu-Ray. But Paramount and Universal respectively took $150 Mil to select HD DVD. But that is nought but a drop in the bucket compared to what they lose if their movies aren't available to the format consumers choose to buy.
And those of you clich¨¦ that now Sony will jack up the prices of Blu-Ray players don't know how a competitve souk works. Sony can't charge more than customers are willing to reimburse. If they boost the price on their machines then society will buy a different brand.
They have matching picture quality. Blu Ray have more storage capacity. HD DVD is cheaper to put together and sell.
I wonder if the playstation help the sale of Blu Ray movies.

The techies and gamers enjoy spoken. Now it time for the average joe which hasn't bought an hdtv or hd player to decide. The full-grown industry still has make more titles on HDdvd than Blu Ray.
Then when HDCP comes out you wont be able to copy movies. Then you'll adjectives go posterior to regular DVD movies. What a waste of time. lol
