HDMI output to elder TV?
My receiver say : video signal inputs to HDMI IN jack, can only be output from the HDMI OUT jack.
I enjoy an older TV that doesn't enjoy a HDMI IN slot : [
Answers: It's possible but expensive. See the link for a suitable product.
The problem is that HDMI is a digital signal and component is analog. It also have to separate out the video and audio and pass them to sepaerate outputs. Finally, to be legally recognized (and useful) the device has to support HDCP ... otherwise the signal will be down sample to a low resolution or simply cut off. All of this add complexity.
So ... the suggested device will do the job, but you might be as capably off (assuming you are NOT conversation an HD signal) to use component out for the video from your receiver and any optical or digital coax for the audio.
Hope this helps.
I'm afraid I don't know of any method to connect an HDMI output to a composite (i.e. Y/R/W) input using a simple cable. I think you will enjoy to use a converter box, but that's going to be expensive.
For example, I found this:

... which I think does the reverse of what you want (i.e. converts a composite/s-video output to an HDMI input). But I believe the reverse conversion would be similarly expensive.
If your receiver doesn't hold composite output jacks, then you may want to think something like a new TV, or a different beneficiary.

No, it is not possible to accomplish next to just a cable. You would have need of a converter in between to convert the signal from digital (HDMI) to analog.
