Blu-ray Players -They play standard dvd's but do they upscale them as all right?

Answers:    Yes, Blu-ray players will upscale standard format DVDs to "near-HiDef" resolution. While it's not as good as the photograph provided by a well-authored Blu-Ray disc, an upscaled DVD will usually look quite a bit better than it will when played through a regular DVD player.
you own to check the menu to see if it upscales,,
heelboy,

as long as you have a hd organized tv, and are using the hdmi cable then it will upscale

wg
Of course they dont if the disc hasnt be recorded within the upscaled format you wont be able to enjoy it played in that format you will take the best picture your player is able to show but never going to be alike as a blue ray record disc
