Will upgrading the speaker wires neccesary for the Harman Kardon cp40 home theater system?
Answers: You can revision the wires, but unless you are going to extend the wires to much longer distances than the original chain allows you won't get any significant benefit (other than conceivably feeling better).
The basis people receive concerned about long length of small gauge line is because if the wire increases overall impedance (resistance) of the speaker it change the overall frequency response ... mainly a concession in output across the full audio spectrum ... and at drastically long distances additional effects start to selectively roll-off the highly developed frequencies. Note this latter effect is more or less independent of flex size ... it's length that matters.
For minimal effect the "rule" is to save the total resistance of the speaker wire to smaller quantity than 5% of the speaker impedence and total length under 50 foot (15 m). This means that, for a "normal" 8 ohm speaker, even if the flex were 22 awg (pretty small) the rope can be 12 feet (4 m) long. See the table within the article at the link.
Of course it won't hurt to revise the wire to something thicker, and if you plan to play your system loud and hold a very dutiful ear you MAY hear a slight difference. Whether it is worth it is up to you.
Hope this helps.
i dont know what speakers it comes near but speaker wire is pretty cheap. only just get some 12 or 14 determine wire, it should be more than ample
