Region free dvd players??
Answers: Region free players allow you to play DVDs from different regions. Region 1 is North America. Region 2 is Japan and Europe.
In addition to one a different region than the US, Europe also uses a different video standard. The US and Japan uses NTSC. Europe, and most of the rest of Asia uses PAL. The two standards aren't compatible, meaning your NTSC TV won't know what to do beside a PAL signal.
I would recommend getting a DVD player from Oppo (www.oppodigital.com - but they're also sold on Amazon and probably elsewhere.) Oppo's players have gotten massively good reviews, are efficiently made region free with a simple code you enter on your remote (you'll hold to google for this) AND can convert from PAL<->NTSC. So, your British DVDs will play on your American TV without any added hardware.
Usually there a code to unlock the players and formulate them region free. Just do google search "region free philips" and include the recent model number. I have a DVP642, that outdated i contemplate. But its region free.
Most of them play NTSC and PAL, dont worry.
