Trying to connect laptop to HDTV?

I have an Inspiron E1505 from Dell. Trying to connect it to HDTV. The laptop have USB, S-Video and what looks like a small serial port (female beside 15 holes). My TV has the HDMI ports needed so what cable do I need to buy?

Answers:    First answer is bizarre and this VGA - HDMI adapter does not exist.

To incorporate to the second answer....you need a VGA male-male cable.

VGA = 15 pin D-sub connector. Its the blue 15 "hole" connector on your laptop and on your HDTV. I guarantee your TV have a VGA input. If for some bizarre reason it doesn't, use the S-Video output. For nouns, you will use the earphone output on your laptop.

BEST: VGA to VGA using a 3.5mm mannish male cable for the nouns (3.5mm is like the piece your earphone jack uses). Your HDTV will own the little 3.5mm hole next to the VGA connector.

GOOD: S-video to S-video using a 3.5mm masculine to RCA (white red) adapter cable.
you need a VGA to HDMI adapter and after hook it up to your tv
