No Sound from Subwoofer?

Had a new home built and have it prewired for surround sound. I supplied the rope (standard speaker wire from lowe's) I plugged up my sony system tonight and get nothing from my subwoofer. All other speakers work fine. Should my subwoofer use a different type of speaker flex? If not what could be the problem. If i plug it up directly with the inspired wire it works great but when i dance through the wall with the speaker telecommunication i provided i get zilch?

Answers:    If the sub is confirmed to be good consequently you have a electrics problem.
Get a meter and ohm out the wire within the wall.
Subs normally use a heavier rate wire but that wouldn't stop it from giving out nouns . They must of wired it incorrectly.
