How do you format a dvd to play on a standard dvd player?

I burned a dvd on a RW DVD+R disc that will play on my laptop, but not on my dvd player. How can I get it to work on my standard player?

Answers:    Check the guide for your DVD player to make sure which of the four burnable formats that it is compatible next to: DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW and DVD-RW. Then use the appropriate type of discs.

Make sure that you are putting your video on the disc in the proper DVD format, and not of late burning computer video files onto the disc.

Finally, when burning, use the "close disc" option. This ability that you won't be able to put anything else on the disc or erase it again, but this will variety your DVD player more likely to play it.
What type are your files on the DVD drive? Are they standard DVD format? Anyhow you can use VSOConvertXT software to convert your files to DVD format files and later burn them to DVD
