DVD recorder recomendations?

Looking for a user friendly DVD / VCR combo to transfer tape to DVD, ( mostly family home movies, commercial copyrights not a concern) , plays multi format, including CDs. Trying to consider usefulness for adjectives technology, in bag I want to record from HD tv, which I don't hold yet, Not up to date with what adjectives the acronyms mean. Thanks.

-That is correct. The 2007 unit always start near DMREZ, have a 7 surrounded by the model number (17, 27, 37, 47) and, if they are combos, end beside a 'v'. The top of the line element is the DMREZ47V / 475V.

-Whether or not you get a combo component is personal choice. There are no more issues with them than here are with DVD exclusive recorder.

-No DVD recorder can successfully record Hi-Def. It's impractical. However, it can convert that HD signal back to a DVD original resolution of 720x480 (NTSC). HD-DVD and BD recorders are man released sometime next year. They can diary HD in aboriginal resolution.
Panasonic makes the best DVD recorder.

Do NOT get a VCR/DVD recorder combo.. They aren't worth it!! Too much stuff can progress wrong and break. You can easily hook up a cheap VCR to your Panasonic DVD recorder.. It works great. I converted frequent home movies to DVD.

There are DVD recorders that can journal hi-def now. Either Blu-Ray or HDDVD.. Don't know too much nearly those, I'm sure they are pretty expensive right now, but will eventually come down.
