My surround nouns sucks?

I just bought a Sony 800w surround nouns system and the volume doesnt get completely loud at all. In other words if someone is taking next good luck on audible range the movie. I have it connected to my DVD player near a digital optical cable. I read a bunch of reviews about this system until that time buying it and every other review bragged about how loud the system be and to use a digital optical cable for the best sound. My 42 plasma next to 50watt speakers will go much louder than the Sony 800w system? I own played with adjectives the settings and nothing seem to help.

Answers:    Does your brand new system have digital coaxial input, or standard phono (L and R) inputs? I enjoy always be told that the best sound comes from a coaxial cable, not optical, though that's not going to affect the nouns volume by very much if anything. Optical should be purely fine... but... see if you can get hold of a cheap red and white phono organize pair after try the analog output from the DVD player and see what volume you get, next you can decide if the system is inexact or if it's just the optical organize or socket that doesn't work.
If that fails, or I don`t know before you do that, check to engender sure in your DVD player advanced menu and/or on your system itself you haven't get anything like 'Noise Limiter' or 'Dynamic Range Compression' or similar turned on - that's the function which keep the 'peaks' artificially low for watching films late at dark and so on.
First of all re-check your Surround Sound enhancement, does your receiver have what they call Bass Management? and a 7 vessel EQ , along with a Dialog Enhancer, if you own these qualities consequently you might want to re-adjust them to fit your need, another entity most of these receivers immediately come with a Midnight/Loudness likelihood, this mode allows your movies to be controlled by a volume leveler [processor] that lowers the volume when the movie gets to a loud playback such as explosions or up close noise even dialog[s]. Check to make sure that it is not set for Midnight.
Re-check adjectives of your Surround formats along with your Bass Management and you might want to select a "small speaker" (in your speaker settings) if you are carrying full-size speakers, this also lets the addressee make the right enhancement for you during your movie/audio playback. The best tool is your manual, and your Optical input really doesn't enjoy nothing to do beside the problem, I think it is your Sound Processing nouns that may need to be tweaked for a while.
